Janet grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, in what she considers the best neighborhood, in the best of times, and near the best neighbors. During childhood Janet had very good role models, as she watched her hard working parents achieve their goals. She is from a family of nine children and observed how hard her father worked every day to support them (they even had foster children live with them too). At one time, Janet had twenty-four aunts and uncles and really misses all the huge family parties from days gone by.

She is an avid reader who loves learning and devours anything historical. Her passions are her family of five children and seven grandchildren, the charity Stoves for Native Americans, genealogy, church, home remodeling, and knitting. On the golf course, Janet is your go-to for comic relief!

At the age of thirteen, Janet started a home cleaning business with her best friend. She noticed at the time how the mothers with their large families needed help in their homes, and she made sure to provide it to them. Janet graduated from MATC in the Medical Administration field, attended Salt Lake Community College, and completed an additional eighteen weeks of cooking classes that were especially challenging. Her favorite job was in the ZCMI credit office in Sandy, Utah, where the manager treated everyone like adults and they acted accordingly.
